LAZY AFTERNOON is a 5 track EP release that introduces Tevo Howard as a bass guitar player to the world. Written in grooved out compositions in the Chicago House genre, and for whatever a lazy afternoon can involve, these 5 tracks were written by Howard from a hotel room in Berlin with a broken heart, a skateboard, a bass guitar, and a locked room to emotionally release and pick up life's normal rhythms via 'working it out' over the bass guitar.
The theoretical and technical goal of Howard's bass guitar playing throughout the EP emphasizes the sound movement and texture of each note in theoretical articulation. The techniques used involve strumming dynamics like mezzo-forte and fortissimo coupled with stacotto and legato emphasis while paying close attention to rhythmic articulation by placing all baseline notes in rhythms according to the back end of the beats per measure---The baselines are played lazily behind the beats in hope that this one will groove for you.
