Sick Live - What's Your Type

The debut album from Polish trio Sick Live is a masterpiece of interwoven musical styles and cross-referenced genres. The album's heartbeat is a soulful one, but this is much more than just another soul album.

Jazz-tinged ballads like Come Home and Suitability rub shoulders with the funky disco of Never Loved Like This Before or the deep funky club grooves of All Over Me and I Was Wrong. The smooth, sexy declarations of love that are She Must Be From Heaven and This Musiq beautifully complement the blissed out soul of title track What's Your Type. John James has a deliciously rich and versatile voice and the musicianship is of the highest order throughout with some tracks containing truly exhilarating keyboard and wind solos. At the same time, the album's slick production and clever use of technology gives it a thoroughly modern feel, typified by the jazzy four-to-the-floor of I Like That or the spaced out electronica of Farewells.

The album is rounded off by two stunning remixes. Top Polish house producer Seb Skalski has pulled off a massive soulful house remix of What's Your Type, and the Splendor & Slava remix of I Like That is a mighty slab of future funk.
