Rafa Barrios is back on Agile and this time he delivers three tracks which truly demonstrate his mastery of the Groove. “Distraido” is led by a busy rhythm section which only comes up to breathe when spoken word passages appear. The mysterious vibe is reinforced by streamlined synths which are cleverly placed throughout. On “Animals” we are treated to a more cavernous approach, full of suspenseful rises and tons of low-end goodness. Closing up with “Perfect Sunday”, things get kicked up a notch and grinding percussion steals the spotlight alongside moody, commanding stabs.
