APOLLO1405 | 2014-03-19
A beautifully crafted Christmas present, Santiago Lopez and his "Red Sunset" EP provided a moment of sublime techno joy in December 2013. Inspiration provided within his multi-cultural San Francisco hometown, the three-track EP was an assured debut from the Californian producer. Recognising its success the final track from the EP now takes centre stage as "Bright Trails" is reprised in all its smooth melodic and rhythmic glory, accompanied by a pair of remixes from an established legend and a rapidly rising star.

A passion for electronic music is part of the Anton Lanski DNA. Initial compositions in the late 1990s flowed with creative spontaneity before they became channelled in a more focused approach at the turn of the millennium. Since then, a century of Beatport production credits can be found next to his name. A prominent resident for the Etoka imprint, a remix competition for his "Kill Me" track raised Lanski's profile higher still as work for Svatoslav Tvardosky's rapidly rising, Dear Deer label, confirmed his status amongst the deep house production elite.

A regular with the Apollo label since a debut in 2011 has seen original work in the shape of the, "Jesus is Ok With it" EP, with Russian artist, Babak, and his Gespleu alter-ego, producing the silky "No Prating Angels" EP in February 2013. Practising his "cyberart" on Santiago Lopez, Anton Lanski's unique approach sees a delightfully soft and rich interpretation of "Bright Trails". The melodic themes so apparent in the original are given star-billing once again, this time surrounded by an ensemble of deep bass groove and blissful additional melodies. A light, skipping percussive rhythm provides the perfect vehicle to showcase the melodic elements as "Lanski's Woodward Remix" demonstrates an array of talent.

From his Manchester hometown in the north of England, Loz Goddard's rise in the deep house arena has been impressive. Taught to play the drums before the age of 10, Goddard's rhythmic skills have been translated into the electronic medium with consummate ease. "One of the most essential components" of his production style, rhythm and percussive groove has been at the heart of his work since a debut for C! Boutique in 2012. Since then a raft of original productions and remixes have found their way on to such imprints as Kolour and DeepWit plus a recent quartet of new tracks in the shape of, "Only A Dream", for Goldmin Music.

The "Frame of Mind" EP launched Loz Goddard's Apollo career in style. Sublime remixes of Artette and Addex followed before "Frame of Mind" sprung to the fore once more with a trio of new remixes. Taking on "Bright Trails", Goddard's percussion credentials are immediately apparent as a soft, lilting groove is stiffened by a prominent hi-hat and 808 clap. Echoes of Lopez's original can be heard in a backdrop that is soon accompanied by a superb analogue arpeggio that trips across the stereo spectrum in dizzying delight, producing a remix of class and quality.

With two new remixes from Anton Lanksi and Loz Goddard, Santiago Lopez is continuing to blaze "Bright Trails" across the deep house skyline.
