Renwartherger, the mysterious and innovative electronic collaboration and Bulletdodge Records affiliate, has announced the new seven track EP ‘Moving’ to be released on 5 December.
‘Moving’ marks the second Renwartherger release of the year, following the highly praised ‘Faint Residue’ EP in April that garnered support from influential tastemakers including Laurent Garnier, Francesco Farfa, Richard Sen, Mad Miran, dMIT.RY, Orde Meikle (SLAM) and others.
Renwartherger has become synonymous with a moody and textural blend of electronica, post-punk guitar motifs, and genre-defying club experimentation, creating immersive, emotionally resonant works that feel both familiar and strange.
In true Bulletdodge spirit, the project continues to let the music speak for itself, eschewing a curated image and backstory in favor of pure sonic exploration.
A highlight of this new body of work is the collaboration with vocalists Jillian Raye and Jennifer Johnson, both members of the Seattle-based grunge supergroup 3rd Secret, which includes musicians from Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Nirvana. Additionally, Raye and Johnson are affiliated with the ‘Giants In The Trees’ group spearheaded by Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic.
The opening track, Simplicity (featuring Jillian Raye) layers a squelchy, elastic synth line beneath Raye’s haunting mix of spoken word and sung vocals, while Moving (featuring Jillian Raye & Jennifer Johnson) unfolds with an insistent, funky groove and sultry vocal interplay.
Elsewhere, the EP showcases Renwartherger’s diverse songwriting skill and ability to blur genres and emotions, from the breaks/rap of 'Everything', to 'Concealed' with its divergent path into rock/electronica territory, while 'Keeps Me Going' inhabits a world of cool, downtempo, darkly tinted electronica. The final track is an unexpected foray into near-ballad territory, with glistening guitars, further underscoring Renwartherger’s forward-thinking approach to production.
