Under Way reflects Seis Drum’s deep exploration of musical influences—not simply imitating early inspirations, but reworking them into a distinct sonic identity. Hip hop culture was an early key influence, shaping their creative process. Though the album isn’t explicitly hip hop, its textures and vocal treatments are layered with its imprint. Other influences include early electronica, 1980s electro, and industrial sounds, transformed into raw material for new forms. The composition approach balances intention and spontaneity, using carefully curated samples and fragmented text to explore new meanings. This process removes original context to create fresh interpretations through layering. The entire album was produced digitally, using hip hop-rooted techniques such as sampling, editing, and processing to manipulate sound within software environments.
