Utrecht-based artist M-High is a multi-instrumentalist, DJ, and producer, part of a new wave of house producers bringing fresh influences while traversing the worlds of tech, deep, and minimal. His sounds have been featured on the likes of Pilot, Hot Creations, Berg Audio, You&Me, Koltrax and F93 and have taken him to landmark clubs and events such as fabric, Shelter, Awakenings, Audio Obscura, Club Space, Koko, UNVRS. Here he joins CARISTA’s United Identities label for the first time.
Says the artist, "Releasing on United Identities means a lot. I’ve spent plenty of nights on dancefloors where CARISTA was behind the decks. I respect her open-minded approach and how she creates space for club music that doesn’t follow the obvious route. With this record, I wanted to tap into that spirit, something warm, groovy, mysterious and unpolished, but still dancefloor-driven. No pressure, just vibes."
And so it proves with opener 'The Saw That Broke the Camel's Back', a spaced out and dynamic deep house cut with supple bass and wispy, storytelling melodies and hints of squelchy acid. 'Jargon' is a trippy and neon coloured late night electronic house jam marbled with shimmering pads and deft melodies that leave long tails in their wake as the fat drums and rich bass surge to the stars. 'Return The Phavour' completes this sophisticated house triptych with soft, painterly acid lines, a widescreen astral atmosphere and future-facing house grooves that are brilliantly warm.
Remixer KiNK needs little introduction. He's been rewiring acid and techno for many years with logic-defying skills on his famous array of hardware, only on the most influential labels. Here, he reworks 'The Saw That Broke the Camel's Back' into a busier, more energetic jam, run through with warming rushes and psychedelic synth motifs, while his Dub Remix is even more direct and heady.
