D.J. MacIntyre's SLC-6 Music rounds out the month of August by welcoming Ivan Lozano to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Argentina, Ivan Lozano first emerged in 2023 on the strength of releases via AH Digital and Electric Eden. Armed with a nostalgic progressive sound and support from Nick Warren, Mariano Mellino and Nick Varon, Ivan would go on to record projects for BCSA, Droid9 and Transensations, firmly establishing himself as one of his country's rising talents. Also an accomplished DJ, Ivan is a fixture of his country's nightlife, most recently playing alongside international star Magdalena. With releases on Mango Alley forthcoming, Ivan now adds SLC-6 Music to resume with a four-track showcase ‘Redshift'.

Comprised of four progressive-minded productions, it is the dark groovy monochromes of the title selection which set the tone for the release. Ivan crafts a deeply moving piece, complete with menacing stabs, neatly manicured percussion, mysterious vocal fragments and hopeful pads, the latter of which forecasts what's to come on selection two ‘Skinnarbu'. Decisively more subversive, it's a foreboding air which makes this such an inspired creation, one which flows through rolling basslines, fresh effects and skittering percussive arrangements, before reverberating into misty atmospherics for a foggy night drive. Selection three ‘Ignition' makes its presence felt immediately through tougher kick drums which provide a resounding thump early on. These sturdy anchors chart the course for explorative passages of synths, panning effects and trance-inspired melodies to work their magic across a concise running time. Acting as the EP's closer are the energetic sounds of ‘Burn Sequence', a tasteful journey through quirky arpeggiated arrays, playful cascades and timely key changes. An amalgamation of sound which not only proves to be powerful, but also timeless and cerebral in equal measure.
