SLC-6 Music presents 'Strange Wonders,' a new single from D.J. MacIntyre and J Lauda. Hailing from California, D.J. MacIntyre has been a beloved figure within the American electronic music scene for the better part of a decade. Oftentimes finding the creative space between progressive house and melodic techno, D.J. MacIntyre has taken his cross-genre sound to some of the underground's trendiest imprints, most notably Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, Clubsonica, Freegrant Music and RKP. Also well travelled as a DJ, the Santa Barbara resident has appeared at some of the world's most prestigious events, most notably Burning Man and ADE, while also showcasing his borderless programming skills in Moscow, Buenos Aires, Malta, Mexico, Sri Lanka, and all across the United States. Meanwhile, based in Buffalo, New York, Jim Jarvis aka J Lauda first emerged over a decade ago, eventually taking his progressive sound to Yotto's Odd One Out, Mango Alley, Manual Music, SLC-6 Music and Univack. Also well established as a DJ, J Lauda has opened for Above and Beyond, Cedric Gervais and Paul Oakenfold, amongst others. Having worked together previously on 2023's ‘Castle Garden', D.J. MacIntyre and J Lauda continue their creative partnership with a new offering ‘Strange Wonders', alongside remixes from Nomas, Gabo Martin and Licha Ignacio.
With a strong emphasis on rhythm and groove, D.J. MacIntyre and J Lauda craft a crossover club cut of the highest order. Backed by a sturdy percussive framework, it's a series of fiery synth mutations and timely acid motifs which set the stage for glowing pads and bucolic chord changes. Emotive and hopeful in equal measure, it's a theme which runs through a well-crafted break, before getting washed away as a spoken word vocal sample summons the groove back for a stomping finale. Returning to the label for the first interpretation is Nomas who makes his fourteenth SLC-6 appearance. The Italian-born, Germany-based talent puts a trance-inspired twist on the track, upping pace and tempo considerably, while incorporating the vocal narrative into the break, before rolling out a frantic melodic finale. The second interpretation of ‘Strange Wonders' finds Gabo Martin returning to the label following two remixes in 2023. Beloved for his releases via Juicebox Music and Mango Alley, the Argentinean talent puts a pure progressive twist on the track, adding a groovier framework which is complemented by crunchy rhythmic structures and buzzing effects. Orbiting chord stabs soon emerge, adding additional swing to the groove, before a series of short breaks eventually reveals an effects-laden final act. The release concludes with Licha Ignacio returning to the label with the third and final interpretation of ‘Strange Wonders'. The Buenos Aires resident continued to impress following his SLC-6 debut last August, recording subsequent projects for RKP and You Wouldn't Understand. Now providing his first remix for the label, Licha opts for a peak time approach, assembling a driving framework for emotive melodies and astral sonics to work their magic, before a cavernous break delivers what is sure to be a memorable dancefloor moment.
