James Simonson and Blair French return to MotorCity Wine for the Realities Remix EP. Realities was originally recorded in various hotel rooms across Switzerland, Germany, Colombia, NYC, Chicago, and Detroit while James was on tour as music director for soul legend Bettie Lavette. He took advantage of every resource he could find including French vocalist Louisa Rosi, Chicago drummer Michael Caskey, various field recorded street sounds from bicycles to a cat purr of 'Electronolux', the hotel cat in Switzerland. The original Realities ultimately won best world album of 2020 in the Detroit Music Awards, and discerning ears might recognize James's bass playing on John Beltran's Back To Bahia series.
Naturally, Detroit leftfield and Balearic legend Blair French heard the originals and decided he had to put his foot in them. 'Realities (Projector Remix)' is the 2025 summer anthem as far as we're concerned, with an unforgettable vocal earworm and a relentless drum groove. 'Elektronolux Overture (Sunday Remix)' keeps the uplifting dance party going, with a driving stomp for those sunset parties we all love. On the flip side, 'Hannah (Blair French Remix)' comes through with the blissed out downtempo vibes, with a stunning violin performance from Sonia Lee. This is timeless global music from the heart of the Motor City!
