The Haunter crew and fellow Milan-crawler Piezo have been friends for ages. They even, for a time, co-conspired in running infamous netherworld Macao. Nonetheless, Foreground represents the ANSIA boss’ first ever release on the milanese label.

As an EP made of tracks composed at different moments in time, and ripe with collaborations, it shows Piezo’s production at his rawest, most emotional and leftfield. The 6 tracks often combine contrasting bits of low-key dirt akin to oldschool modes with more hi-def abstractions and haze.

A recipe made the more tasty by the appearances by HR co-founder Heith, experimental percussionist Daniele DeSantis and multi-disciplinary creator LOREM. Slow and syncopated, often caught by intruding melancholia but built on rock-solid beats, Foreground is a strong demonstration of Piezo’s unrelenting excavation into his own creativity.
