After several months in the making, our new *FLINTA-focused imprint is here. For our debut release, we've invited nine artists to contribute to our first VA. Each artist reflects the sound and ethos of our label, channeling trance, psy, tek, experimental techno and lots more.
Berlin-based producer & DJ Agata opens the compilation with the lush and lurid psy trip 'Drip', conjuring an escapist feel — perfect for a peak-time moment. London-based artist Astral Bandit follows suit with 'Money God', fusing raw percussion with acid-tipped motifs, echoing their dynamic approach as producer.
Berlin's cunt remember delivers the blistering track 'disobedience', dipping into bat-like sounds and harsh textures that showcases her jagged-edged aesthetic.
Naarm-born artist Disgrays produces a choppy ride through resounding drums and a topsy-turvy melody, whipping up a mix of misty techno with an industrial edge. Staying on Aussie terrain, Eora's DJ BIG GUNS comes in strong with heavy kickdrums and a hair-raising hook, mirroring their dirty-rave take on classic techno.
Co-founder of Barcelona's queer platform and collective MUSA, Drazzit creates an off-kilter and vibrant vibe on 'Volar', merging an earworm melody with a rippling bassline and playful percussion. Belgian producer, DJ, and visual artist Emma Dowdy drops the penultimate track with 'Shivering.' Balancing skittery energy and chilly atmospheres, they weave a spiky melody between rubbery kickdrums, evoking a chaotic but entrancing soundscape.
Buenos Aires-born artist PAX rounds off VA001 with 'mortal bliss.' The hint is in the name with this one, as they create a morbid feel with a bouncy twist, touching on frenetic psy flavours and hypnotic trance pads, honouring the sound of our new label.
