DJ Strawberry’s New EP deceleration Out October 1st via Appendix.files
Berlin, Germany — October 1, 2024 — DJ Strawberry, the Berlin-based Turkish producer and DJ known for blending rhythmic innovation with atmospheric soundscapes, is set to release his highly anticipated EP deceleration on October 1st via Appendix.files. This marks the artist’s latest exploration into slowed juke beats, interwoven with jazz and funk samples, and textured with ambient and dub influences, showcasing DJ Strawberry's commitment to sonic experimentation.
deceleration marks a shift from his characteristic 160bpm footwork tempos, which were foundational in his 2022 debut album cycles on the Wroclaw-based Outlines label. Praised by The Quietus as one of the best tape releases of the year, cycles introduced audiences to DJ Strawberry’s intricate, footwork-meets-ambient stylings. His sophomore album, beyond, followed in 2023 with critical acclaim, taking him on tours across Asia, the EU, and the UK.
The five-track EP deceleration combines DJ Strawberry’s deft use of rhythmic micro-details with a unique selection of jazz and funk samples, resulting in a collection of tracks that are both contemplative and groove-driven. Highlights include rain dance, a hypnotic piece featuring elements of Herbie Hancock’s Rain Dance, and sticky keys, a textural soundscape with layers of Charles Mingus, Brian Eno, and Hoavi samples. The EP was mastered by Ike Zwanikken and features original artwork by Amos Turner.
Released as a limited edition 12” lathe-cut vinyl as well as across all digital streaming platforms, deceleration invites listeners to sink into its rich, decelerated atmospheres, while offering a fresh perspective on club rhythms through DJ Strawberry’s innovative lens.
deceleration will be available on all major streaming platforms and through Appendix.files on October 1, 2024.
