Lose Your Mind

ANix JAy

Eat My Hat Music
EMH053 | 2024-10-25
Ziger's Eat My Hat Music opens the fall season by welcoming ANix JAy to the label for his debut
EP. Hailing from Sri Lanka, Anjana Upeksha aka ANix JAy first emerged as a DJ in 2014,
before turning his hand to production in 2018. A series of projects for Elastic Dimension
solidified a progressive sound for the Colombo resident, one which would see him go on to
record releases for Another Life Music, Balkan Connection's BC2 and Noise In Harmony across
the next three calendar years. Now, following his ‘Babylon' EP for Uncles Music, ANix JAy adds
Eat My Hat to his resume with ‘Lose Your Mind'.
Beginning with the title selection, ANix showcases the peaktime side of repertoire which sets the
tone for the EP. Full of ominous textures and luminous colours, the Colombo resident smoothly
blends meaty kick drums and warm rippling grooves with fragmented vocals and rolling
percussion for a smooth journey into the break. Further revealing his creative attitude across the
interlude, it's a stereo field of icy electronics and percolating effects which marry beautifully for a
healthy dose of melodic tension, before a cross-cultural theme cues a thunderous drop and
driving finale.
Rounding out the release are the mesmerizing sounds of and#39;Moonlightand#39;. Warm, compact and
bursting with colourful energies, the trackand#39;s first movement is built around pulsating rhythms,
spacey effects and hopeful overlays, the latter of which carries a vibrant mood into the break.
The narrative continues to progress across interlude, with buzzing effects and warm bass swells
cleverly coaxing, eventually revealing a calming monochrome, one which pushes onwards to a
finale that is equal parts groove-centric and cosmic to cap off the release in style.
