Serenades is very happy to welcome pothOles - a new project from the Helsinki based producer Aslak, to its roster. Originally hailing from the most northern parts of Finland, Aslak has been producing music for years with various different monikers, pothOles being his latest. His trademark sound leaning more towards deep tech soundscapes, this new one is a true exception to the norm.
As a title 'Chauma' doesn't sound very finnish. Thats because the origins of the track and the title comes all the way down from Kenya, Africa where he lived for one year with his wife. The town where they lived had only one decent bar that also happened to have the best beer you could get in hundreds of kilometers radius. An oasis in the midst of the wilderness so to speak. That bar was named Chauma.
The time he spent in Kenya and at the bar Chauma turned out to be a big inspiration for his music. Luckily pothOles had his mobile studio with him. And with that 'Chauma' was born.
The release consists of two versions of the title track.
First there is the original which is a fantastic slow italo-burner, perfect for the summer, perfect for the pool. Highly addictive.
Secondly on the "flip side" we have a rework from Manolo which takes the original and moves it slightly closer to the Modern Talking territory, still maintaining its cool.
