What's the recipe for a classic summer record in 2012 ?
Take one underrated pop-gem, "Pocketful of Money" by Jens Lekman, get the "voice of Italo" Fred Ventura to feature on vocals, and throw a near legendary production duo in charge of it all. The end result is the much anticipated follow up from STOP MODERNISTS, a Nu-Italo killer guaranteed to make this summer hot ! Stop Modernists, naturally, are Jori Hulkkonen, undoubtedly Finland's most profilic DJ/producer with an unparalleled CV featuring releases, productions, remixes and DJ gigs all over the globe in the last 15 years, on the hottest labels, for the hottest artists, and in the hottest clubs. And then you have Alex Nieminen, one of the pioneering house DJ's in Finland who became synonymous with quality house music for the true connoisseurs with his legendary radioshows on a national network. Friends for two decades, but it wasn't until this new alliance was formed that things finally clicked. As STOP MODERNISTS they bring together the music and the passion behind the music that has inspired them, and give it a twist for the twenty-tens. Their debut outing went straight to the source: a cover version of New Order's SUBCULTURE (Keys Of Life/Sähkö recordings), with production giving a knowing head-nod to late 80's New York/Chicago deephouse scene, with Chris Lowe (of the Pet Shop Boys) on vocal duties.
