Seeing in 2024 with the seventh edition of my self-release project.
'Falling' and 'Time to Be Real' are an ode to those high-intensity, wide-eyed moments on the dancefloor, and intended as a direct interface between you and the soundsystem.
Working with Manchester's Conni on 'Falling', the soulful nature of her voice led me into a futuristic sound fx palette, and in turn somehow ended up adding all sorts of gnarly dnb bass sounds too. I really like how this track bounces in and out of uk funky & dembow style breaks, in your face 4x4, and more uplifting sections too.
My brief foray down a techno-focused direction, 'Time to Be Real', came together pretty quickly after a big night out a year or so ago. After I found the sample from a film clip, I knew I had to reference the short-lived 'Be Real' app for the track title. To me it makes a lot of sense as a soundtrack to watching someone try to take a selfie in an awkward situation.
