Coming to prominence in ’96 via the legendary Ata Tak imprint, Matt Flores has spent the last 15 years steadily establishing himself as something of a producer’s producer amongst the international tech-house fraternity. Now after almost 100 releases under a variety of monikers including Mighty Flores and to a lesser extent My-T, the German makes his debut on Cinematic Recordings. Having released the ‘Waveform’ EP via Cinematic’s sister channel, Shack Music in ’07, the Düsseldorf-based veteran delivers a 4 track EP in conjunction with the Dortmund-based sound designer and harpist, Meike Rath.Coming to prominence in ’96 via the legendary Ata Tak imprint, Matt Flores has spent the last 15 years steadily establishing himself as something of a producer’s producer amongst the international tech-house fraternity. Now after almost 100 releases under a variety of monikers including Mighty Flores and to a lesser extent My-T, the German makes his debut on Cinematic Recordings. Having released the ‘Waveform’ EP via Cinematic’s sister channel, Shack Music in ’07, the Düsseldorf-based veteran delivers a 4 track EP in conjunction with the Dortmund-based sound designer and harpist, Meike Rath. Comprised of 2 brand new solo cuts, the A-side features a hypnotic yet grooving slab of peak-time house entitled ‘Dub In The Red’, while ‘Enchanted’ is a far more reflective production that melodically chugs through a magnitude of cavernous depth. Over on the flipside, Matt and Meike follow on from a series of live collaborations together and once again pool resources. With both tracks steeped in an organic and almost pastoral elegance, ‘The Fall’ contrasts stacking percussion with a melancholic piano progression, before the EP’s emotive title track ‘Richter Method’ completes the package in wash of almost-Voigt-esque ambience and meticulously orchestrated instrumentation.
