An awesome new addition to the Rant & Rave roster, Codex Empire is the main project of Vienna-based UK producer Mahk Rumbae who has been active with music since the late 1980s. Most will recognize Mahk for his standout work as both Codex Empire and Antechamber on aufnahme + wiedergabe, HORO, Instruments of Discipline and Sacred Court among dozens of other projects: mitra mitra, Toxic Frequency, Oppenheimer MKII (to name just a few). Mahk is also a member of the classic early 80s industrial act Konstruktivists, whose unique and challenging atmospherics and experimental sounds helped pave the way for much of what we experience today. Rather than DJing, Codex Empire only performs as a live act, and has taken his darkly intense but infinitely danceable live shows around the world. For Rant & Rave Records, Codex Empire demonstrates a knack for bent and twisted electronic soundscapes, which steadily expand behind militant rhythms that will take over any dancefloor. ‘Overneed’ is all sonic- psychological, with great percussive elements and tone. ‘Anthem Cackler', ‘Stone Faction', and ‘Frozen Fugitive round out this EP, all carefully crafted with a subtly psychedelic attitude.
