Spanish musical maestro Rafa Duran aka Chanknous joins us at Piston Recordings with this superb debut slice titled ‘No Breaks’. Since 2018 Rafa has been notching out a solid reputation with a plethora of releases on several top labels from around the world. His repertoire is packed full of exciting collaborations and he packs a mean punch on remix duties also. We’re delighted to see him here at PR and we hope to hear more from him soon.

‘No Breaks’ opens the release with a spritely percussion arrangement driven by chunky kicks, bright hats and rhythmic drums. A deep, plucky bassline rises alongside mesmerizing chord pads. Cool vocals accent the groove beautifully as the chords intensify before the main vocal comes through to deliver a solid dancefloor experience. Top-notch, not to be missed. ‘Nanodeep’ rounds out the release with a darker, raw and organic groove thanks to heavy kicks and a super low subby bassline. A beautifully refined chord progression adds depth and becomes the main focus of the groove alongside a spoken vocal and sprinklings of dotted notes that add flavour amidst the minimalistic nature of the groove. An excellent, late-night mover, no doubt.
