The latest release from Nikko.Z's Dopamine White welcomes Delux Twins to the label for their debut EP. Hailing from Brazil, André and Lucas are the real life twins behind the Delux Twins project. Emerging in 2018 on the strength of early tracks such as ‘Mesmerized' and ‘Work It', the Delux Twins would take their club-effective tech house sound to Hot Fuss and Hub Records, before focusing on more of a progressive minded approach for their most recent offering via Another Life Music and Polyptych. Now adding Dopamine White to their resume, Delux Twins debut on the label with ‘Simulation'.
Continuing what has been a great year, Delux Twins step forward with 'Simulation' which showcases their originality and sophistication as an artist. Anchored by a deep, chugging groove and smooth rhythmic pulses, the energy is fluid from the outset. Exotic drum arrangements and orbiting effects steal the air as the first act evolves, elegantly moving through a forest of finely tuned percussion and dulcet tones. Carrying into the main break, it's a series of astral sonics and deconstructed vocals which add mightily to the narrative, marrying beautifully with the interlude's darker monochromes, before a tasteful crescendo cues a groovy finale.
Selection two ‘Movement' goes deeper and trippier with great success. Headier and more atmospheric than its predecessor, it's a series of sweeping effects and prophetic chord stabs which dominate the narrative, laid out perfectly over a bed of rippling grooves and punchy kick drums. Gathering an even greater astral tone, it is the main break which proves to be the highlight, melting down to a percolating sizzle of warped sonics, before perfectly segueing into an understated drop and charged conclusion.
The third and final selection 'Wet' continues the progressive minded flow with a retro-acid narrative. A rolling low end sets the track in motion as acidic warbles, percussive rides and buoyant rhythms move through the framework as the main break approaches. Trippy and mysterious, the interlude sits at the core of the storyboard, with its timeless appeal eventually revealing ethereal vocal gates and wavy arps, as the acid-line returns for a strong finish to round out the EP in style.
