MANTRA continues what has been a great year with a special re-imagination for RONA's
‘Vibration'. Originally released in 2020, it found the Israeli artist crafting a club-inspired slice of
afro-house. Complete with RONA's distinctive vocal stylings and a buoyant percussive cadence,
the nine-minute plus dancefloor escapade was a glimpse into the artist's unique storyboarding.
With a captivating narrative centred around the vibration of sound, RONA's creative vision
springs to life as the lyrical buzz of ‘Sync', ‘Code' and ‘Vibration' steal the air, bringing with them
feelings of connectedness and how it translates to people through waves of sound, ultimately
uniting them on a deeper more emotional level. Now, three years on from its initial release,
MANTRA boss RONA looks to bring new life to the timeless track with a special re-imagination,
including a 2023 Remake from RONA herself, alongside remixes from Amir Telem and LevK.
RONA's ‘Remake' anchors the release with a modern progressive mood where much of the
drums get stripped away in favour of an emerging musical story. Bending vocal phrasing plays
out across pulsating grooves and hypnotic rhythmic sequences, perfectly setting the backdrop
for panoramic melodies and balmy harmonics to work their magic, before ultimately coming to
full fruition as glowing pads put a cap on this creative gem.
Also providing a new interpretation of ‘Vibration' is Amir Telem who makes his label debut here.
Best known for his releases via Kindisch, Movement, Siona, Steyoyoke and Nick Warren's The
Soundgarden, the Israeli artist is in the midst of a creative swell. With one of 2023's highlights
being ‘Deep Inside', a special single track release in collaboration with RONA, Amir now re-
imagines ‘Vibration' in fine style for the summer club and festival season. From deep rhythmic
beginnings comes fuzzy chord stabs and RONA's distinctive chops, playing out across a
contemporary framework of rolling beats and clattering percussive arrangements. Sitting at the
heart of the piece is a solemn sounding second act, providing a delicate interlude where
rhythms rise and sentimental synths emerge, eventually joined once more by RONA's vocal for
a soulful finale.
Rounding out the release with the second and final interpretation of ‘Vibration' is LevK who also
makes his label debut. Although included on the 2020 release, Lev's version stands the test of
time beautifully, as the Israeli artist maintains the soulful sensibility of the original, while
incorporating his own emotive themes. Warm textural drifts and haunting arps converge as
exotic drums and punchy beats push momentum forward. RONA's vocal drifts gently below the
surface at opportune moments, acting as a driver of looping hypnotism, eventually giving way to
a glowing finale which should not only fare well on the morning dance floors out there, but also
rounds out the release on a stirring note.
