Southern Fried Records keep the house music rolling with an EP from a hotly tipped US producer.

Justin Jay s name has been catching attention for some time now, which is quite something as this Los Angeles producer is just 19 years old. Flagged by DJ Magazine when he was only 17, he has gone on to spend his days learning his craft at Atlantic Records in LA and has been releasing select cuts through labels such as Claude Von Stroke s Dirtybird, garnering support from the likes of Pete Tong, Eats Everything and Tom Findlay (Groove Armada).

Now this talented young artist is joining forces with Southern Fried Records for a full EP backed with some superb remixes from label peers Frogs In Socks and Jack Fell Down.

The Everything EP opens with the title track, a wonderfully deep and musical slice of bumpin house music that somehow manages to capture a very current UK House sound with a definite Californian flavour. Soulful vocal refrains and rich pads soar over skipping drum programming and warm bass to provide a perfect urban sun-kissed soundtrack before the understated yet uplifting piano lines lifts things towards the stratosphere. The second of the two original cuts, Into the Night sees Justin Jay journey into broken, bass driven territory with a piece of House music that wears its West coast Hip Hop influences in its sleeve, quality stuff.

The remix package sees Southern Fried act Frogs in Socks provide a remix and dub version of Everything both of which twist up the original bringing an off kilter and underground feel to this superb track. Following hot on their heels, the excellent Jack Fell Down also provide a pair of mixes, this time reworking Into the Night. The duo s Jack Fell Down remix offers up a solid UK house sound with tight edits of the vocal and a simple killer B-line whilst the Jack Fell Down Garage remix does what it says on the tin, delivering a ruff, old school rework that is outstanding.

Justin Jay is a worthy addition to the Southern Fried roster and with music of this calibre is likely to featuring heavily in the months and years to come.
