Freiburg’s URTE returns to Coyote Records with new five-track EP, ‘Parallel Heights’ – her first for the label since 2020 debut, ‘Permafrost’.
Freshly inspired after playing her first club set in over six months earlier this year, URTE began revisiting old beat sketches and through a combination of new original writing and reconfigured ideas, ‘Parallel Heights’ started to take shape.
Where ‘Permafrost’ looked skyward for inspiration, tracing both skeletal, space-age grime and flashes of Blade Runner-flecked dystopia, ‘Parallel Heights’ is of-the-now, defining a clear moment in time. While the sounds remain diverse – from the post-club balm of ‘Hold Onto Me’ to the crunching breaks of ‘Rave Kids 23’ – these are five tracks that belong together, bleeding into a bigger picture for URTE. “This record was inspired by little sleep, balancing being a parent, holding down my day job and being a producer/DJ”, she explains.
‘Parallel Heights’ follows releases via German labels RAIDERS and Warning – URTE also remixed Lolingo’s ‘Freaky’ ft. Elf for Coyote last summer – as well as making her HÖR Berlin debut in March.
