Where I stand

Fabø, Lostcause

There's a palpable Brazilian bounce across Fabo's two original mixes. At the title track's core-a vibrant vocal house march-are rattling synths that cascade down like marbles on a tray and a grinding bassline through which surf guitars are entwined. In comparison to the mechanical funk of 'Where I Stand,' the liquid house sound of 'You Found Me' evolves more organically behind snake-hipped bass, twinkling vibes and Rhodes.

But the EP leads with the Karmon remix of 'Where I Stand' for a reason. The Dutch producer fashions a deliciously kitsch '80s synth pop/cosmic disco mash-up. Building from a vocal seemingly lifted to the surface from within a full bathtub, Karmon fires digital bullets into the air with abandon, before unleashing a pack of stabbing Korgs and vicious 808 handclaps into the melee. Sailing just the right side of camp, it's ridiculously good fun.
