Ráfla is an Irish producer currently based in the Austrian alps. With a love for all things house, his style has been influenced by the likes of Coastdream, DJRUM and DJ Tennis. Initially a DJ, his recent forray into the world of production was the result of some free time over the covid lockdown.
His musical inspirations are many but to name a few alongside the aforementioned, they would be; Matthieu Faubourg, DJ Steaw, and Black Loops.
EIVISSA
Whether it is sunrise or sunset 'EIVISSA' is perfectly suited. Harking back to soundtracks on low-grain quality videos of Ibiza in the 90's, swirling synths carry you over a classic house piano chord sequence. Elongated acid lines a plodding bass-line and a magical atmospheric resonance make this chilled house track an engrossing listen, giving you an undeniable flashback of classic house on the white isle. HER
Leaning towards an electro sound, Ráfla still keeps a smooth and floaty feel with his nuanced use of ethereal synths that ebb & flow around your auditory perception. What becomes prominent in 'HER' is the hi- tempo beat which incorporates bongos that dance from ear to ear. Add to that a pulsating and 303 style bass-line that will noodle through your brain and get stuck there for the rest of the day.
JAM TURISMO
A hi-energy track which will remind you of late night Tokyo drift racers that own the dark streets. Racing through your mind with a tapping hi-hat covered in dust, surrounded by a multi-layered synth and a deep sub-bass. A rhythmic key pattern loops in-between the phased and filtered staccato background layers. HI-NRG for the disenfranchised people of the night.
YKHN
You could be confused to learn that 'YKHN' provides the most intensity of all of the tracks. Its peaceful intro - which includes serene synths that are akin to title track 'EIVISSA' - is soon shattered. Hi-tempo Drum & Bass with an extra heavy kick drum inject energy against the calmness of the keys. Like liquid jungle and DNB of old but with an analogue pulsing bass-line - giving the track a tinge of eeriness. Now, imagine this track seeping out of an underground club in a dark, futuristic dystopia with blinking neon signs. Atmospheric, deep and intense - 'YKHN' will have you lost in the moment.
