"A lot of the time, it is incredible having my label release my music. I feel fortunate to have a team that supports what I do creatively. That said, we have to ensure that the releases have a specific commercial success to cover the label's costs. That puts pressure on me as an artist to make "big tunes". However, that's not the case at Christmas. The music industry effectively shuts down, stores remain relatively static, and radio plays this year's hits. As a result, no one releases "big tunes", so I can be more experimental. That's what's happening with "Like This". I made a raw underground jam for small, underground basements with a locked-in, jacking crowd. It's not a peak-time tune - I didn't design it to be. But, it is packed full of the wonky rhythms and oddball noises I want to hear deep into an underground house set." Kevin McKay, December 2022.
