They say stories come in a variety of forms, and SELCHP 002 is no different. Taking the shape of 6 tracks, 'Pathway To Glory' is a story which brings together elements of hope, dread and victory.
SELCHP 002 opens with the aptly named 'Intro'. This is somewhat the "Shrove Tuesday" of the release - clearing the listener's palette for the journey ahead.
Following on, the first "real" tracks come from Conrad Pack via 'Emerge' and 'Depart'. 'Emerge' sits somewhere between a 50 Cent instrumental and a séance. Imagine an early 2000s RnB night held at a dodgy pub lock-in and the owner's just got the Ouija board out. 'Depart' sounds more like the anthem to an early morning TfL bus ride to a higher realm. Think a mix of hope, belief and pot holes.
DJ Gonz continues with 'Beyond' and 'Horizons'. 'Beyond' goes beyond expectations and fuels pure steppers power with something more corrupt and dark. Picture playing your favorite dub 7" backwards, only to hear the satanic verses at full pelt.
'Horizons' looks ahead to a more hopeful vision of times to come, whilst also reminding you of all your past mistakes. Dancers who are in a particularly pensive mode may be prone to tears if this played around the 7am mark.
As inspirationally named as it began, SELCHP 002 finishes off with 'Outro' - firmly closing the door on a trip to the inner soul and beyond.
