Circulation's triumphant return to the scene continues with another blistering three-tracker on his freshly minted Recirculate label.

For nine exceptional years after first emerging in 1998, UK electronic artist Paul Davis was a true underground pioneer. He released 45 cult EPs as Circulation with former partner Matt Jackson and headlined clubs like fabric and major festivals around the world. This spring, after falling back in love with music during the pandemic, he returned to the scene with a pair of new EPs. Each one showed he has noticeably matured from his early days but can still nail a sweet dance floor groove.

This EP opens up with 'Algodonles Blue Sky,' an exquisite 12-minute dub techno opus. Constantly bubbling bass and elastic grooves trap you in the moment, and a world of sound effects, rich cosmic designs and heady motifs all detail the groove in subtle but subversive fashion. There is more air and light in the playful 'Diskotec,' with its rich harmonica patterns, churning drums and uplifting melodies. It's a track to swell the heart and raise the spirits before the excellent closer 'Chord.' This one rolls deep on a cuddly and dubby house groove. Melancholic pads leave long tails in their wake, and soft shakers and hymnal chords add to the meditative effects.

Thoughtful and dynamic, this is another timeless EP from Circulation.
