This is a musical work that highlights three female entities in the form of Yemaya, Oshun and Mekatilili. Yemaya is the Yoruba goddess of the living ocean, considered the mother of all. Oshun is commonly called the river goddess in the Yoruba religion and is typically associated with water, purity, fertility, love, and sensuality. She is considered one of the most powerful of all goddesses as she is connected to destiny and divination. Mekatilili (1860s-1924) was a Kenyan independence activist who led the Giriama people against the colonial administration between 1912 and 1915 in the coastal region of Kenya. It is believed that she possessed supernatural powers due to her strong belief in the traditional religions of the water goddesses. Thus, the track celebrates her resilience, courage, strength, leadership and the power to unite her people to one cause.
