Next up on Lowbit is the name on the tip of many tongues in the melodic and progressive scenes Ruben Karapetyan. He delivers his Karo ep which includes remixes from tastemakers Paul Angelo and Don Argento and label compatriot Alfonso Muchacho.

There are no more powerful forces on this earth than family and on the opening track, Karo takes its name from Rubens son and harnesses the energy of this pulsating bond. The captivating bassline drives the groove forward with mysterious vocals and hooks combining in hypnotic harmony. Growling bass licks build the tension further and the breakdown explodes into a dark, middle eastern paradise. The elements combine and explode back into life and the dance floor erupts.

This mysterious aura continues into the second track Tear. Armenian duduk create drama and the intricate drums combine to form an engaging rhythm and then a magical, meandering bassline takes center stage. We are all locked into this groove, putty in the hands of the magician and creator. Introspective stabs and vocals enter the fold and take us even higher into the ethereal breakdown. The intricate balance of drums and melodies then arrive in perfect harmony and cement this unforgettable moment into our memories.

Paul Angelo and Don Argento come next with their remix of Karo. They create tension from the first moment with a throbbing synth bass marching along amidst vocals and industrial synth stabs and percussion. Unrelenting shakers take us up another gear before they subside and we are left with mind-bending vocals and swirling synths. When the track drops and charges back the elements are minimal but unforgettable. This remix is not for the faint-hearted!

Alfonso Muchacho takes the helm next for his remix of Tear. A looping and engaging lower end propels the mysterious vocals and instrumentation forward with ethereal synths pulling the listener willingly into the depths of this Muchacho themed world. Elegant and emotive keys changes engage during a magnetic breakdown and the returning drums take the listener even higher. Two fantastic originals and two remixes not to be missed!
