HARDGROOVEDIGI003 | 2021-06-18
Having appeared on Odd Even and Chi Wax whilst having a significant catalogue of tunes as Tripmastaz, Trackmaster Dre’s first release for Hardgroove sees the producer also known as Basement Kid and Dre Dilla serve up an EP that, true to form, is a timeless, engaging and memorable piece of Techno weaponry.

Opener ‘DMD’ is all shuffle and swagger with its drums while smoothed sine wave bass and a neatly tuned percussion riff and looping vocal refrain create glue-like hooks that hold for its duration. ‘RH730’ ramps up the intensity with more tight loops while utilizing a familiar melodic synth line to garner favour from old House & Techno heads.

For the second half of the ’Sixth’, we’re treated to heavier swings and an altogether weirder feel to the tracks with ’Seems’ tripping itself joyously throughout while ’Sixth’ goes deep and sinister while still maintaining the EPs prevailing sense of dancefloor fun(k).
