Open Records is proud to present Archangel, the stunning new track from Australian maestro Tonelab.
Tonelab is a solo project from Melbourne producer, composer, engineer and musician Philip Rex. Best known in electronic music circles for his work with Ian Chaplin in acts like Decoy, Rex'N'Chappo and IMPS (alongside Sebastian Mullaert and Marcus Henriksson from Minilogue), Phil is also one of Australia's leading double bass players and recipient of a prestigious ARIA Award (Australia's version of the Grammy) for Best Jazz Album.
Since kicking off his solo project, Tonelab continues to excite dancefloors across the world with his trademark deep and driving fusion of progressive techno and house with releases on Traum, Wulfpack, Shadow Wulf, Evil Flow and more. Brimming with emotion, Archangel's beautiful harmonies, rising melodies and funky bass is the perfect example of the groovier side of his dynamic sound.
Returning to Open for the first time since 2017, New Zealand innovators Out Of Sorts are first up on remix duties. Delivering a slow-burning masterpiece reminiscent of their classic project Antix but dragged kicking and screaming into the modern era, this incredible rework will surely please fans of the Strom brothers young and old.
Closing the release out are Open Records label boss and AandR Jesse Kuch and Boy With Boat with another collaboration under their Boy With Kuch alias. Underpinned by a driving bassline, rolling snare fills and powerful leads, the Metatron Remix is another notch on the belt for two of Australia's most exciting new producers. Enjoy!
