Extended Records brings you the new digital-exclusive output by Lisbon-based DIOGO. As a music lover, his interest in different sounds and styles, as well as his experience as a DJ, live inside his music. 'Get On Your Knees' makes an exploding 808 roar in between varied percussive elements, fusing traditional jack patterns, alien-like textures and dubbed-out, high-volume bass frequencies. 'Try Again' has a distinctive UK flavour and plays a well-sequenced acid line among the breakbeats; funky and lysergic, the oniric pads and the vocal sample then take us to a different but familiar plane. The beautiful 'Gil Vicente St' is reminiscent of the jungle era - the ubiquitousbreakbeat plays on top of some beautiful keys and a finely filtered pad - as an ode to the jungle movement and the subbass craze, we reminisce about things long gone. The first-to-last 'Keep Smiling' plays an electro-like drum sequence while other signs and languages give us hints about othercities and their musical movements - a quasi-Rhodes plays liquid keys on top of ASMR-like textures and the irresistible Sesame Street break. By the end, 'Altered States' is an exercise for introverted raves - the beat-switch transforms the tune into a four-on-the-floor acid mania and, consequently, a dancefloor enabler. DIOGO proves he has nothing to prove - the five tracks here presented will surely bring joy to future dancefloors. Just be sure to hold these until then for optimal efficiency.
