For Dubwise 047, we welcome James Reid. to the fold with three solid new originals. “Acute” is a slow building deep driver that utilizes atmospheric stabs, floating pads, underpinned by a menacing bassline. The Stephunk Remix takes Acute into techier territory with its percussive edges, sonorous synths, as well as the tension-and-release arrangement of the original elements. “Etern” sets its sights firmly on the main floor, sauntering in with tight drumwork, strong bass, and stunning melodic sensibilities in the keyboards throughout. “Fusion” rounds the EP out with psychedelic élan, the bassline and kick setting pace for ethereal synths, spectral voices, and dark stabs.
