LEON and Ben Kim come together for their debut savvy tech house release on Sola Nauts with their Dance Tunnel EP and it does not disappoint.
Opening the EP is Dance Tunnel, a groove-laden tech house wonder giving us a seriously distinguished and bumpy rave-ready cut. Married together by the track's edgy and unexpected vocals that ensures this track stands out from its predecessors. Second up is a remix of Dance Tunnel provided by Wheats, the smoother groovier edit on the EP, it masterfully makes use of the vocal and retains the edgy essence of the original whilst adding a touch of class and sass.
LEON is an Italian DJ born and raised in Teramo near Rome, who has been making major waves in the house scene since his breakthrough at the beginning of 2009. Bursting onto the scene with a bang, LEON has carved out quite a reputation with releases for Steve Lawler's Viva, Nick Curly's much talked about Cecille label in Manheim, and the highly successful ReBirth records in Italy. In addition to this he has remixed a plethora of artists such as Audiofly, Felipe Velenzuela & Ali Nasser. LEON's tracks have garnered support from all the major players right now; Luciano, Carl Cox, MANDY, Loco Dice, Ricardo Villalobos, Tiefschwarz, Matthias Tanzmann and many more are all fans of his work.
The mystery that surrounds Ben Kim with his minimal online presence only adds to the allure and underground nature of this EP, and is a tip of the cap nod to LEON's ability to track down and work with underground artists like Kim.
