Brooklyn producer Jonny Sum debuts a synth-spankin' dance tune on IAH. Kicking off his music career in Detroit, where he played at some of the best spots in and around the city, he came to NYC to further pursue his love for the dancefloor, playing at Good Room, Elsewhere, and Black Flamingo, alongside Walker & Royce, Justin Strauss, and Moon Boots. His previously released jams as well as tracks signed to his own label, Mixed Feelings, have been already supported by the likes of Claptone, Riva Starr, Ten Snake, Mousse T, Mr V, and tons of others. On "What You Are" we hear a bit of his Detroit tech influence come through but with a funkier house edge. Maybe we can call it hard funk house, or HFH for short. Got a bouncy synthy bassline? Check. Smackin' percussion? Check. Violin jabs and intermittent Grace Jones-type female vox? Check and double check. You'll see what we mean when you hear it. Whatever you decide to call it, danceable should be first.
