ATL040 | 2020-09-07
For Atlant's 40th release we deliver a summer blockbuster of epic proportions courtesy of Paris based duo Betical. While Betical will be new to many, make sure you remember their name. Our intuition tells us you'll be hearing a lot more from these rising stars of the electronic world over the coming years.

Max and Martin's Atlant debut hits all the right notes, with the captivating A-side ‘Icon' demanding your attention from the very first broken beats as the infectious vocal kicks in alongside heart wrenching synth lines, to send you into a 4 minute 28 second tailspin of pure bliss and emotion.

Showcasing Betical's UK influences with their punchy nod to a certain Belfast duo, ‘Icon' is a guaranteed mainstay of any discerning DJs box ever since the legendary John Digweed opened his Glastonbury Gas Tower Stage stream with Betical's gem - which is also remixed by Shall Ocin [Ellum - Clash Lion].

We are privileged to welcome Argentina's Shall Ocin to Atlant after his recent remix of Maceo Plex for the mighty Drumcode. With important releases on the Clash Lion imprint he runs with Terr and Daniel Watts, adding to a body of work for Ellum, Truesoul and Hotflush it is fair to say Shall Ocin is widely respected as an artist. Staying true to the original Shall's cavernous Icon Remix ramps up the intensity taking by Icon deep into the clubs giving DJs yet another powerful tune for their arsenal.

Closing out the EP ‘Chase' hits more of a 4/4 club vibe, demonstrating a deeper darker side of Betical's productions, while always keeping melody and emotive chords at the forefront of things.

This feels like just the beginning of a very important journey, with Icon / Chase only just touching the surface of Betical's undoubted talents.
