In 2018, Innate unveiled its debut release - a widely acclaimed EP that drew together four varied slabs of deep electronic music from a mix of unsung heroes and underground stalwarts.
The label's second release naturally treads a similar path, offering up a trio of cuts that further emphasize Innate's desire to champion futurist electronic music shot through with warmth, humanity and machine soul.
Heading up the A-side is Bristol veteran A Sagittariun, whose psychedelic and otherworldly take on techno, ambient and IDM has previously appeared on Idle Hands, Hype_Ltd and, most frequently, his Elastic Dreams label. 'Proof' is an altogether deeper and more far-sighted affair than much of his forthright and intense output, with ghostly lead lines, melancholic electronics and spacey chords stretching out across a bustling groove rich in hazy analogue bass and crunchy machine drums.
Side B is headed up by key Innate family member Gilbert. His contribution to the label's first EP, 'Birds of Paradise', was simply stunning and rightly picked up plaudits and praise from an impressive selection of DJs and journalists. 'Polynoid' is another impressive outing from the Bristol-based producer, with ear-catching riffs, acid lines and melodic movements rising and falling above a wonderfully retro-futurist, Chicago-influenced groove.
It's accompanied on the flipside by 'Our Love For Music', which marks the first Innate appearance from Final Chapter boss and sometime Rawax contributor Sean Dixon. Like much of the Swedish producer's output, the track is melodious and intergalactic in tone, combining the widescreen vision of Detroit's early techno pioneers with the jacking, sweat-drenched percussive intensity of Chicago's finest.
