Up next on Segment we present The Moody Brothers and Renaissance nights. Renaissance Nights is the brain child of Rob Green and Mark Durham. Both regular clubbers of Venue 44 in 92, Rob and Mark cut their teeth as DJs in the mid to late 90s and had a successful release in 97 called Shango Tunnelvision on Jackpot Records, which was played by the likes of Sasha, and sold in excess of ten thousand copies. Rob has been behind many other successful productions and remixes, in several guises...
Inspired by Robs membership to the Renaissance @ Venue 44 Appreciation Society Facebook group, Rob and Mark set about making a tune which would reflect Renaissance in 92 - that legendary hub of hedonism that had inspired them in the first place. Made in a modern, tech style, the track Renaissance is a reflection of Rob and Marks favourite aspects of the stylish culture of Renaissance in 92, and is fittingly tough, deep and apocalyptic. Its hard to believe that its 20 years since Renaissance first opened its doors to the world - what an incredible ride it was! As well as the original Venue 44 mix Rob himself has provided two mixes himself, first up the Shango Spanish fly mix takes the vibe of the original but adds some piano and an ethnic vocal to spice it up while the 2GP Full-Steam Guerilla mix takes influence from Dr. Atomic, React 2 Rhythm and other tracks from around 1992, while sounding modern at the same time, hard hitting and punchy this mix is built for big sound systems and is a fitting tribute to a great club night
