The next release on Swerve Digital comes in the form of the fourth instalment of their increasingly-popular 'Genesis' VA series. Five freshly hand-picked cuts from some of the brightest names in the underground house music scene, including the likes of TwoSlice, Acid Kids, Pavzo and more.
'Afterburn' gets things moving with a spacey, jackin' number. TwoSlice exhibiting a delectable blend of pads, stabs, swinging rhythms, atmospheric climaxes - all married up with a rich, bright bed of low-frequencies.
Mateo Dufour continues the intergalactic theme with another yet more raucous Deep House sway. A scattering of processed synth stabs float around the ether and glide between a captivating vocal topline within the breaks and continue within the main body of the record.
London-based duo Acid Kids are next up with a grittier offering. Another firm injection of analogue, dubby richness, as they lay down a fine display of that prevalent and distinctive UK Deep Tech sound.
Astre's 'Galaxia' takes you to the soothing end of the scale with an ample concoction of dreamy elements. Warped pads, tonal glitches, bright strings and hypnotic vox phrases melt you down into a calming state of relentless inner-dance. A real 'eyes closed and dance' track, for the later hours of the party.
Closing the VA, Pavzo's 'Thinking About' is a careful balance of Tech House stomper and spacey Deep House - not something you hear very often. Driving beat and roaring sub-bass with subtle hats on top, met by sweeping pads and FX as well as floaty synth stabs - tied together in the middle by a catchy male sung vocal hook.
