Just in time for the Fall Classic, Panama Red founder Antonio Caballero proves himself as the new Mr. October with a baseball influenced, all American, red-blooded house music classic entitled “Next Up”. Remixes comes from UK producer J-Fader and French artist Azaxx, both relative newcomers with fresh new ideas.
“Next Up” is a jazz tinged collection of deep, swinging groove and smoky melodies familiar to fans of refined Chicago house. The funk here glides, however, rather than stomps for a sleek, sophisticated, and modern feel that also has strong roots in the decadent Twenties when the legendary New York Yankees and their Murderers’ Row dominated the diamond.
Newbie J-Fader adds a nice deep house vibe to the original with techy melodies that are as sweet as Halloween candy. Athough Fader is a UK native who has probably never made his way to the old ball park, his music is reminiscent of the Seventies-era Oakland Athletics, filled with a rough and tumble attitude that is pure dance floor magic.
Crafty French veteran Azaxx makes the most of his post-season appearance for Panama Red with a tracky, hypnotic groove tracl. The remix is a laid-back blunted funk that recalls Pirates’ pitcher Dock Ellis and his legendary no-hitter on acid (house).
