Cold represents a head on collision of ancient and modern sounds. Although the start of the track features what resembles a Jamaican style wail, the sample is actually a recording of cries of the Mbuti people hunting in the Congo in 1952, made by ethnomusicologist Hugh Tracey.

Kenyan Hip Hop and Dancehall legend Nazizi AKA 'The First Lady' connected with Saronde backstage at a show in Uganda late in 2018, roll on Feb 2019, they fixed their collaboration up in Nairobi. Nazizi carefully considered her 12 bar deliveries in homage to the ancestors "from Kenya cross to the Congo Hail the ancestors, salute them!.."
