Spoons is the collaborative EP from Shy One and Kwam, named after a meeting in an EastLondon Wetherspoons where the duo decided to join forces for aproject. Having worked together sporadically in the past, this is the first timethe two artists have recorded together for a specific project. Spread over sixtracks, Kwam's lyrics explore various themes on certain aspects of Londonliving and society at large over a diverse selection of Shy One's trademarkrough and ready productions.

Tracks like 'Let Us' and 'The Raid' are a venomous expression of thefrustrations of being on the receiving end of prejudice from the powers that beand society in general, the latter featuring a fitting sample from a police raid ata Soul II Soul rave in the '90s. Kwam's delivery is refreshingly honest andcasual while still managing to lay down technically impressive flows andpowerful hooks, perhaps most evident on 'Kwam Freestyle' and one of theEP's grimier tracks, 'Power'.

Shy One's production is more explorative and creative than ever. While trackslike 'Proper' and 'Kwam Freestyle' draw from a more quintessentially Londonsound palette, 'Power' and 'The Raid' in particular show off Shy One's versatility as an artist, with precise sample chops, sophisticated chord progressions and unpredictable drum programming.
