After moving to Chicago from Los Angeles over 20 years ago, it is safe to say that DJ Philly Phil is now a true Chicago native. But the influence of his west coast upbringing can definitely be heard in the tracks he produces. DJ Philly Phil started his production journey as a Hip Hop beat maker and MC, and that Hip Hop influence is also very evident in his music. With his use of heavily chopped, stuttered and filtered samples layered over familiar vocals,funky drums and percussion, DJ Philly Phil paints a sonic landscape that is original and undeniable. His wide range of flavor can capture the attention of every listener, from the laid back deep viber, to the off the wall straight jackin' dancer. Although his DJ sets now consist mainly of House music, he still has the ability to move a crowd by spinning a multitude of different genres.
