Artist
SATURNA
Somewhere deep down in heart of the delta, where grit and soul runs through the veins of its inhabitants and where the barriers of gospel, blues, soul and funk dissolve and become one, lies a fiery yet impassioned force. That force is none other than Memphis' own Saturna.
Though small in physical dimension, Saturna is colossus in heart with a passion for music even more expansive. Saturna feels at home taking the dance floor on an eight hour excursion in the most dank, obscure warehouse - blending deep and sensual lip-curling, leave-it-on-the-floor, take-us-to-the-mountain-top, Afro, Tech, Vocal and Classic House.
With over two decades under her belt as deejay and promoter, Saturna has stirred dance floors with the best of them, and finally decided to put her lifetime of singing and songwriting to work in sharing her voice on Musaria's Moment on Headset Recordings in 2010. With the help of a remix by Atjazz, Moment exploded on the South African scene, which led to her live appearance at the South African Miami Invasion at WMC 2011, and continued global deejay support to this day.
Saturna's passion for singing has only increased on releases with Jazzmatik "Rest in Power," Jet Mab "Soar," Lemon & Herb "Fantasy" and soon to be released - "No Matter" with Abicah Soul. And she continues to humbly take the dancer on a journey, regularly in Memphis, and beyond. You can find an archive of her deejay experiences, vocal work, and more at her website saturnaloves.com
