K'TURE
DJ K'Ture is truly a renaissance talent. Born in Newark, NJ in the 70s, K'Ture is a former poet, choreographer in the house music scene, community activist and former law enforcement officer. He has a doctorate in anthropology and studied both criminal justice and sociology as it relates to Black and Latinx experiences in urban society. Altogether his former experience, professional, intellectual and social, informs his artistry as a song writer, producer and deejay. The central themes that characterize his growing body of work is the pursuit of social justice for marginalized citizens, and their experiences with racism and state sanctioned violence. Simply, he use his artistry to explore race, class, gender and power in America. His 2020 hit song, Stranger Fruits, builds off the success of his many hit singles "Be My Love," "Scatter Fly," "Twisted Love" etc. His work spans both classic, soulful, Latin, tribal and African house music genres and he is inspired by Kenny Bobien, Josh Milan, Lamone Andrews, Consuela Ivy, Kaina Mondesir, Oji and Louie Vega. His next forthcoming single is "Cause I Love featuring Kaina Mondesir.
