MALCOLM WELOVE

WeLove Music

UK based, DJ/Producer All House, Disco, Soul, Funk.
Starting off in the late 80s, on the Hip Hop scene in Leeds dancing in the hype circle and then ultimately beginning to DJ + make hip hop beats, as the DJ/Producer for "Rhetorical Sons" and other Hip Hop groups in the local area. Aged 17 the game play Amiga was swapped for the Atari ST to run Cubase on and a few lessons from DJ Martin, Gez and Mark: LFO + the then named DJ Emelle began making House music also. Pre Rave, Malcolm played Hip Hop + House on pirate radio and small, local parties. Once the rave scene kicked off big time in Leeds, he joined DJ Mikey, Task + Marc Leaf at the infamous late night Blues party; Sonny's. Chromatone Express was the crew comprised of; DJ Beks, Dougie Bug and Emelle (Malcolm), releasing House tracks on Dave Beer's Back to Basics + Matt Jam Lamont's Afrocat record labels. This UKG connection drew Malcolm to London, where along with his Chromatone crew released more UKG records via Stone City distribution from their studio in Brick Lane's Truman Brewery. By the heights of the UKG scene, full with MCs, rewinds and all the champagne + Moschino outfits, Malcolm decided to opt out, the end of Emelle + Chromatone Express. Fast Forward to early 2000s and a chance Wednesday evening at a West London party "Cherry Jam" introduced Malcolm to the Broken Beat sound, similar to his own Jazz inspired 2 step productions. This led to many visits to Plastik People for nights such as FWD + CDR to test out a few of his own dub plates. 2010 and Malcolm returned to his hometown of Leeds + held the first Afro Coalition party, leading to meeting with JAGU, Euan Mitchell + Sy Legg joining forces wigth Malcolm (now WeLove) + Dean Creole as AfroCo. Hosting and DJing at events with Peven Everett, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Atjazz, Spen, Karizma and many more. As well as a short lived Southport Weekender Residency, Malcolm went on to DJ at VocalBooth Weekender, Soulfusion, ADE, Groove Odyssey + London's BBE Store, plus many more. With slots on LDC Radio, PCR, KMAH Radio, D3EP Network, People's FM + still a regular streaming on SoulfulHouseDJs Mixcloud Stream. As well as DJing, Malcolm has released more music, inc. 2 EPs on his own RedKyte label, a 30th Anniversary remix of Victor Simonelli's Groove Committee classic "I Want You to Know", releases on The Atjazz Record Company + DJ Spen's Unquantize label.
