CHAINSNATCHER

Chainsnatcher is a Los Angeles–based DJ with over 30 years of experience behind the decks. He began on vinyl in the mid-1990s underground rave scene, developing his craft through long nights on sound systems and dance floors before establishing himself within the house scene throughout the 2000s. His musical foundation is rooted in Jackin house—particularly the influence of Derrick Carter and DJ Sneak—with a focus on swing, funk, and technical restraint. Raised on hip hop, he carries a deep respect for groove and the art of sampling, with hip hop and R&B/soul remaining his earliest and most enduring musical influences.

House remains the core of Chainsnatcher's sound, though his sets often move fluidly between techno, tech house, disco, and garage. Rather than adhering to rigid genre boundaries, he prioritizes reading the room, staying in a defined lane when appropriate or expanding outward when the dance floor calls for it. His approach emphasizes cohesion, pacing, and musical continuity over spectacle or trend-driven programming.

After relocating to China, Chainsnatcher became a widely recognized figure within the country's electronic music scene and consistently ranked among the top three DJs nationwide from 2005 to 2007. He is one half of Die Familia, whose first release was an exclusive vinyl-only record on Purveyor Underground Ltd., the vinyl subsidiary of Purveyor Underground, featuring a remix of Demuir's "U Dat Bitch." The project followed this with another release on Purveyor Underground featuring Rimarkable, alongside a remix by Juwan Rates.

His debut solo EP, Chi-Town Anthem, was released on San Diego's Late Night Jackin', serving as a direct expression of his Jackin house roots. Known for blending soulful vocals, bouncing basslines, and groove-driven percussion, Chainsnatcher views the DJ's role as guiding the audience through a journey. The music remains the focus at all times.
