The Parisian duo Ohmme may be pretty fresh on the scene, but the roots of this project stem deep into the heart and soul of the underground. The project is in fact the brainchild of Olivier Giacomotto and David Lecocq, two of the French capitals most impactful names in the local and international music scene. The vision of this collaboration is to give priority to the groove, the funk and the sexiness of their sound, and with releases on Moan, Suruba X and now here at Deeperfect, no one can deny the impact they are making.
Getting things moving with ‘Clap”, we are introduced to the Ohmme Aesthetic; stripped back and hard hitting drum grooves paired with syncopated sub bass and carefully selected percussion sounds. A funky, energetic vocal weaves its way into the groove and is expertly affected to create tense moments of fun and excitement, which quickly suck back the dominant, pushing groove.
Up next is ‘Discount’ which continues on the theme of the EP with chunky low end pressure and sparing but intricate top grooves. Heavily affected vocals are worked into the groove and bring the tension high. The beats are complemented by some creative sampling and expert production to bring the track to the club stomping climax.
The third and final track ‘Nods’ works energetic percussion and crispy drums overtop of a rolling sub bass. Heavy fx swells and pitched vocal builds bring excitement and tension which releases back to the pumping main groove. It is definitely a track to turn the heat up on the dancefloor and get the crowd going wild!
